COVID-19 vaccination bookings are now open for children of our practice who are aged 5 to 11.We have just received our Paediatric Pfizer vaccine supply from the Federal Government. The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) has recommended a smaller dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine (Comirnaty) for children aged 5 to 11.Bookings are required, your child must be well on the day, and a parent/guardian is to accompany the child (rather than a baby sitter or friend) to give consent and support during the vaccination clinic. We encourage you to read the information and complete the online consent form prior to your visit here.If you have any concerns regarding your child’s immunisation with Covid-19 Paediatric Pfizer vaccine please make an appointment to discuss with your child’s doctor at Floreat Medical prior to making a booking. In addition, if your child has a weakened immune system or any immune disorders like a bleeding disorder or blood disorder, or is on blood thinning medication or has problems with their heart, you may need to discuss vaccination with their specialist. Please make the GP aware of these matters and the specialists advice in the pre-vaccination consult. You will be asked to wait 15 minutes after the vaccination to ensure your child is well before leaving our practice. We will have a doctor administering the vaccine and an entire clinical team to hand to respond if necessary. The Paediatric Pfizer vaccine will be administered in two doses, with the recommended interval between first and second dose being eight weeks. If your child turns 12 during the eight week interval then the second dose will be the adult Pfizer vaccine, in line with ATAGI recommendations. For more information, visit Roll up for WA .
