Associate Professor Capolingua is passionate about General Practice being the most important interface and partnership with the patient for a healthy life, illness prevention, early detection and diagnosis, management and treatment. The role of the GP is to be there when you are sick, but more importantly, to be with you throughout life to keep you at your very best, physically and mentally. General practice is underpinned by careful assessment and focus on the patient as an individual in the context of family, community and society.  Dr Capolingua has a focus on quality and the patient experience in the delivery of health care. She has interest across all medicine, all age groups and all needs and treats the patient as a whole person.

During her career, Dr Capolingua has combined her clinical work with a contribution to healthcare delivery in Australia. Her commitment has always been putting the patient first. This principle guides and delivers the best of care for everyone.  She has had a strong public health focus with advocacy around enabling healthy lifestyles.  She has developed broad experience across health care delivery having served as Federal President of the Australian Medical Association and also as State AMA (WA) President. Dr Capolingua has chaired the Federal AMA’s Ethics & Medical Legal Committee, the Taskforce on Indigenous Health and has been a member of 2 standing committees of the NH&MRC being the Human Genetics Advisory Committee and the Australian Health Ethics Committee.

Dr Capolingua believes in investing in younger colleagues and Floreat Medical is an accredited teaching practice, training WAGPET allocated GP registrars and teaching Medical Students from UNDA, UWA and Curtin University.

Dr Capolingua’s current positions are Practice Principal and owner of Floreat Medical. She is Chair of AMA Ltd, Chair of the Child and Adolescent Health Service WA, and Chair of the Western Australian Immunisation Strategy Committee. She is a Board member of St John of God Healthcare and Chair of it’s Patient Experience and Clinical Excellence Committee. Dr Capolingua is a member of the Board of Catholic Homes Inc, and Chairs the Clinical Governance Committee. She is also Medical Director of the AMA(WA) Youth Foundation.
